Data brokers and people-search sites collect your name, phone number and address and show them to anyone. Claude can search for these listings, write the removal requests, and, with its Chrome extension, fill in the opt-out forms while you watch. Here are the four prompts, plus the free tools Indian users should use alongside them.
What you need
Claude with web search, for finding listings. Any plan can run the first two prompts.
Claude in Chrome, for filling forms. Anthropic says it is available on all paid plans (Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise), works only in Google Chrome on desktop, and the side-panel version is in beta (Get started with Claude in Chrome). Install it from the Chrome Web Store.
Free tools that work in India: Google's Results about you (India is on the supported list) and the Truecaller unlisting page.
Step by step
1. Find where you're exposed. Open a new Claude chat and paste this, filling in your details:
Search the web for public pages that show my personal information.
My name: [FULL NAME]
City: [CITY]
Phone: [PHONE NUMBER]
Email: [EMAIL]
List every data broker, people-search site or directory that shows my phone number, address or email. Make a table with: site name, page URL where my data appears, what data is shown, and the official opt-out or removal link. Only include pages you actually found. Mark anything you are not sure is about me as "unconfirmed".Check the table yourself. Search only finds public pages, so it won't see closed databases.
2. Get the removal requests. In the same chat:
For each confirmed site in the table, write the removal request I should submit. Keep each one short and polite. Include only the details the site needs to find my listing. If the site has its own opt-out form, list the fields I need to fill in instead of writing a letter. For Indian websites, mention my right to have my personal data erased under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.3. Let Claude fill the forms in Chrome. In the Claude desktop app, click your initials (bottom left), go to Settings, then Connectors, click Configure next to Claude in Chrome, and turn it on. In claude.ai you can also find connectors under Customize > Connectors (Use connectors). The connector is off by default in each chat, so switch it on from the chat's connector menu. Then set the side panel to "Manually approve" and paste:
Use Chrome to open each opt-out link from the table, one site at a time. Fill in the removal form using the requests you wrote. Before you submit any form, show me what you are about to send and wait for my OK. Stop and tell me when a site asks for a CAPTCHA, an email confirmation, a login, payment or a government ID. Do not upload any documents. At the end, give me a list of: submitted, waiting for my action, and skipped. You solve CAPTCHAs and click email confirmation links yourself.
4. Set a monthly or weekly recheck. Claude can't keep checking on its own from an ordinary chat. In the Claude in Chrome extension, save this prompt as a shortcut (type "/" in the side panel), then click the clock icon at the top right of the panel to schedule it weekly (Get started with Claude in Chrome). Scheduled tasks only run while Chrome is open.
Recheck every site from my removal list. For each one, tell me if my listing is gone, still live, or back again. For any listing that is still live after 30 days, draft a follow-up removal request and show it to me before sending anything. Also do this (5 minutes, no AI needed):
Sign up for Google's Results about you to get alerts and request removal of search results showing your phone, email or address. This hides the result in Google Search. The page itself stays on the website until that site removes it (TechCrunch).
Unlist your number from Truecaller at its unlisting page. If you use the Truecaller app, you have to deactivate your account first (Beebom).
Good to know
No guarantee. Claude only finds what web search finds, and brokers can re-list you later. Nobody can promise you'll vanish from "hundreds" of sites.
Many well-known people-search sites focus on the US. If Claude finds few listings for you, the Google and Truecaller steps may do more for an Indian phone number.
India's erasure right is still phasing in. The DPDP Rules were notified on 13 November 2025, and most of their provisions take effect on 13 May 2027 (SCC Online). Until then, sites may not be obliged to respond.
Privacy and safety. Claude in Chrome sees whatever is on your screen. Anthropic advises using it carefully, watching for prompt injection from web pages, and avoiding sensitive sites. A separate Chrome profile is a good idea (Use Claude in Chrome safely).
Skip sites that demand ID or payment to remove you, unless you know they are genuine.
