Want a full set of photos from different angles but only have one good picture? Both Gemini and ChatGPT can now edit an uploaded photo and keep the person looking similar. Below are ready-to-use prompts for a 12-panel grid, a backup prompt for when 12 is too many, and tips to keep the face consistent.
What you need
One clear photo of yourself. Face fully visible, good light, no heavy filters, no sunglasses. Use only your own photo or one you have permission to use.
Gemini app or website. Image creation uses Google's Nano Banana models. Nano Banana 2 is free; Nano Banana 2.1 needs a Google AI plan. Pick "Create images" from the tools menu. Gemini image generation
Or ChatGPT. OpenAI says ChatGPT Images is available on all tiers, including free, on web, iOS and Android. Images in ChatGPT
Step by step
Open a new chat in Gemini (choose Create images) or ChatGPT, and upload your photo.
Paste the main prompt. This works in both apps:
Use the person in the uploaded photo as the only subject. Keep their face,
skin tone, hairstyle, facial hair, glasses (if any) and clothing exactly the same.
Create ONE image: a clean 3 x 4 photo grid (3 rows, 4 columns, 12 equal panels)
with thin white borders. Same person, same outfit, same soft studio lighting and
plain light-grey background in every panel. Photorealistic, like a professional
photoshoot contact sheet.
Each panel shows a different camera angle:
Row 1: front view eye level | three-quarter left | left profile | three-quarter right
Row 2: right profile | back of head over the shoulder | high angle from above | low angle from below
Row 3: close-up face | waist-up portrait | full body standing | candid side glance
No text, no numbers, no watermarks inside the panels. Do not change the person's identity.Ask for the right shape. A 3 x 4 grid looks best as a landscape image. In Gemini, add "Make the image 4:3 landscape." In ChatGPT, you can also choose an aspect ratio in the image editor.
If the faces drift, fix them in a follow-up. Paste this in the same chat:
Some panels don't look like the person in my original photo. Redo the grid and
match the original face more closely in every panel: same eye shape, nose,
jawline, eyebrows and hairline. Keep the same 12 angles and layout. If 12 panels come out messy, split it into two grids of 6. Smaller grids usually give each face more detail:
Using the person in the uploaded photo, create a 2 x 3 photo grid (6 panels).
Same face, outfit, lighting and plain grey background in every panel.
Angles: front view | three-quarter left | left profile |
three-quarter right | right profile | over-the-shoulder back view.
Photorealistic, no text. Then run it again with: "high angle from above | low angle from below | close-up face | waist-up portrait | full body | candid side glance".
Need just one angle in high quality? Ask for a single image instead of a grid:
Using the person in the uploaded photo, show them from a [three-quarter left]
angle, waist-up, same outfit and lighting, plain grey background. Keep the
face identical to the original. Photorealistic.Make it your style. Swap the background line for "on a Mumbai rooftop at sunset", "in a modern office" or "in a white studio" to match your use, like a LinkedIn photo or a profile shoot.
Good to know
It is AI, not a camera. Angles the original photo doesn't show, like the back of your head or the left side, are invented by the model. Results can look slightly different from the real you, especially in small grid panels.
Results vary each time. If a panel looks off, regenerate or use the follow-up fix prompt. Big grids are harder for any model than single images.
Limits apply. Image creation has usage limits that can change. Google says paid plans get higher limits.
Label it as AI. Gemini adds an invisible SynthID watermark and a visible AI watermark. OpenAI adds C2PA metadata and invisible watermarking. If you post these on Instagram or elsewhere, add the platform's AI label.
Consent matters. Only use your own photos or photos you have clear permission to use. Never create images of someone else without their consent.
Privacy. You are uploading your face to Google or OpenAI. Check each app's privacy settings before you upload.
