Meta Muse is Meta's new personal AI agent. It can plan tasks, use a browser and act for you. This guide explains what it does, clears up the token numbers going around, and shows the right way to get started, including what Indian users can do today.
What you need
A Meta account and age 18 or above. Muse is for adults only.
To be in a supported country. Muse launched in the US on 8 September 2026 and reached Canada on 18 September. As of 8 October 2026 it was not available in India, and Meta has not given an India date.
The Muse app (iOS, Android), the website muse.ai, or WhatsApp in supported markets.
Money: Muse is free for most users. Paid plans are Power at $20 a month and Maximum at $100 a month, for higher usage limits.
Step by step
Know what Muse actually does. Muse runs on Meta's Muse Spark model. You give it a goal, it builds a plan, and it keeps working even after you close the app. It can open a browser, fill forms, send emails, book travel and make purchases. It asks for your approval before sensitive actions like sending an email or paying. Built-in connectors include Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Ticketmaster and OpenTable. Payments go through Stripe's Link, which uses one-time card numbers.
Understand the "1M tokens" claim. The 1 million figure is the context window of the Muse Spark model: 1,048,576 tokens. That is how much text the model can keep in view at one time. It is not a free allowance. Usage is a separate thing:
The free tier's exact limit is not published. Zuckerberg described free access of up to 100 million tokens a week, per Upstox.
New users who redeem a Muse invite code within 48 hours of sign-up get 1 billion bonus tokens, per iPhone in Canada.
Independent tests rate Muse Spark's long-context performance as weak, so a big window does not mean perfect recall.
Check if Muse is open where you are. Visit muse.ai, or tap the Muse icon in Instagram's share menu. In India this currently shows "not available in your country". The icon appearing in Instagram does not mean Muse has launched here.
In India today, use Meta AI for planning. Meta AI, a separate assistant, is already available in India on WhatsApp and Instagram. It cannot act for you like Muse, but it can help you plan. Try this:

Install the Muse app or open muse.ai, and sign in with your Meta account.
Muse asks a few basic questions, like your name, and lets you name your agent.
Connect only the apps you need. Start with Gmail and Calendar. You can disconnect any app later.
If a friend shares an invite code, redeem it in Settings within 48 hours of creating your account.
Keep approvals on for emails and purchases.

No VPN shortcut. Some guides suggest a US VPN plus an invite code. We don't recommend it. Muse is region-locked, sign-up involves age and payment checks, and using a workaround can put your linked Meta account at risk. Wait for the official India launch.
Card at sign-up. Some reports say the free plan still asks for a payment card. Others say it doesn't. Check what the app shows you.
Privacy. Muse runs on a dedicated cloud machine called Muse Secure VM. A second agent, Sentinel, must approve anything sent to the internet. WIRED reported that Meta can still technically access this VM. A more locked-down "Confidential VM" is planned. You can opt out of your chats being used for AI training.
Agents make mistakes. Read every plan and draft before you approve it, especially payments.
