In October 2026, OpenAI added Intelligent UI to ChatGPT. An answer can now include images, tappable buttons, forms, charts and small tools that work inside the chat, and it's on the free plan too. Here is how to use it, plus a 50-prompt cheat sheet.
What you need
A ChatGPT account. Free and Go users get it with GPT-6 Luna (rolling out from 8 October 2026). Paid plans get it with GPT-6 Sol. See ChatGPT plans.
The Chat tab on the web or the current mobile app. Older Windows and macOS desktop apps don't support it.
Step by step
Use the normal Chat tab. Intelligent UI is not in the Work tab, Voice, or the Pro reasoning option.
Ask a real-life question. ChatGPT picks the layout, so simple questions may still get plain text.
Want a tool? Name it: "build me a calculator", "show me a chart", "give me a checklist."
Use the buttons and forms in the answer. Checklists keep their state if you refresh that chat.
Too many visuals? On the web, go to Settings > Personalization > Layout and visuals and choose Simple, or ask for "plain text only".
